Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 4, 2026

FitHive is a social step-tracking app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We try to keep things simple: we only collect what we need to make the app work, and we do not sell your data.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information. Your email address, display name, and profile photo (if you choose to upload one).
  • Step data. Daily step counts read from Apple HealthKit (on iOS) or Google Health Connect (on Android), with your explicit permission. We do not read any other health data types.
  • Social data. Your friend connections, the challenges you create or join, and the messages or reactions you send inside a challenge.
  • Device and usage data. Basic diagnostics (crash reports, app version, operating system) so we can fix bugs. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

2. How we use your information

  • To display your daily progress and compute leaderboards within challenges you join.
  • To send you notifications about challenges, friend activity, and your streak.
  • To operate the service, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.

3. What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not share step data with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not display third-party ads inside FitHive.
  • We do not read your location, contacts, photos, messages, or any HealthKit / Health Connect data types beyond step counts.

4. Who can see your data

Only you and the friends you have explicitly connected with can see your step counts, and only within the challenges you have joined together. If you remove a friend or leave a challenge, your future data stops being visible to them immediately.

5. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure with access controls and encryption in transit and at rest. We retain your data for as long as your account is active and delete it within 30 days of account deletion, except where longer retention is required by law.

6. Your choices

  • Access or export your data by emailing us at hello@fithive.app.
  • Delete your account from inside the app, which deletes your step history, profile, and connections.
  • Revoke step data access at any time in your iOS Settings > Health or your Android Health Connect settings.

7. Children

FitHive is not intended for children under 13. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
